• I don’t like giving poor ratings and perhaps I’ll consider revising mine. But here is why I rated this plugin poorly.

I don’t like being fooled into giving away my email address and if you’re going to price a plugin by the month and also make it very difficult to use in free mode, you should be providing full disclosure.

In order to just try out this plugin you have to agree to send them your email address to “activate.” The live preview isn’t actually a live preview because it would need to show you the branding that is inserted in EVERY rating on your website along with a backlink. If I had seen that, there isn’t any way I would have bothered with the free version and never would have sent an email address which, fortunately is bogus because something didn’t ring right with me.

Now I read the reviews and people are talking about purchasing the premium widget. You have to purchase a monthly subscription just to use the widget. So if you use it for just a few months, you’ll find yourself paying perhaps $50. One MONTH is $9. So if you don’t realize it, you’ll rack up a bill for $108 per year for usage, unless you pay in advance. And if you choose not to use it, I don’t see any way to export all the ratings you had using the widget.

    Hi @thelaw,

I’m very sorry you feel that way. We are not trying to fool anyone to give the email – we need it because not like other WP plugins we provide a service. Thus we have to uniquely identify your blog because the ratings data is stored on our servers. We also use it to send maintenance notifications and updates.

With regards to the live preview, are you talking about the ratings preview on the http://rating-widget.com? You are totally right about that and this would be fixed ASAP.

Users can continue using the free version for as longs as they like – though the Premium version include much more features like advanced analytics and Rich-Snippets support. You can read all about the premium features here:
