• If I’ve done all the right searches, this problem has been unresolved for months. Is there a workaround?

When I do the export, it only exports 800 items out of 1300, which — from what I’ve found so far — makes it totally impossible to “move” or copy my blog.

I have tried doing a database dump, but I’m moving to a differeent domain and haven’t figured out how to correct for that. I’ve been creating web sites since 1994, but this is all still a bit new to me.

What if I did a databse dump, then manually deleted all the items which have been successfully exported and imported?

What have all the people done who have asked about this issue? Given up?

Thanks for any help. I’ve spent two full days on this already.

Backing_Up_Your_Database, then Changing the URL directly in the database, and finally, Restoring_Your_Database_From_Backup explain…

Not a useful answer. I have finally run out of patience with a lot of small issues with my WP install and hoped to export and re-import after verifying that things were fixed. The content is what it is but there are some config issues I can’t quite solve.

As for a database dump and restore, that’s great if you want to perpetuate the same issues.

It worked fine for me. It told me exactly what to change in the database, for the additional URL. But I had no config issues prior to that.

My case may be rare. I have 55 categories in one blog, and want to use only about 20 of them as repeats, in a blog to a more targeted market segment. I am stuck posting to both of them now, but not that big a pain with email posting.
