[resolved] WordPress.com Stats not tracking views (13 posts)

    I have the WordPress.com Stats plug-in activated on my blog but it's not showing any views. I know people have seen it because I've sent the link around to friends but they're not registering. Anybody have an idea why this is happening and how to remedy the problem?

    Thanks!
    Adam

    Can you post a link to your site so we can see if the tracking code is there and working?

    If your theme's footer.php file does not include the <?php wp_footer(); ?> call, then the footer image will not be put in the page and no stats will be collected.

    Here's the link to the blog...

    I'm not that savvy when it comes to all this stuff so I don't know how to check the code in the footer.

    I appreciate the help!

    The code is not there. So, do the following:

    Edit your theme. Look for the "footer.php" file.

    In that file, right before the </body> (or just before the end of the file if there is no </body>), add this code:
    <?php wp_footer(); ?>

    Once you get that on your site, the stats should start working.

    If the wp_footer code is already in there, then something else is wrong. Make sure that you've put the API key in for the stats configuration page.

    Worked for me, too, today, when I started researching why no stats were being recorded. Thanks!

    @planetmagazin: did you fill in a valid API key? You can use the one that you had on planetmagazin.wordpress.com. Go to http://planetmagazin.wordpress.com/wp-admin/profile.php and you will see your API key displayed. Copy it. Deactivate and re-activate the wordpress.com stats plugin and enter this API key when asked.
