WordPress with Filezilla and Earthlink Host

Hello All,
I am new to wordpress, First my host is Earthlink, and Earthlink has setup a ftp site for me and transferred my data on there. Next , I am trying to install a theme but it asks me for hostname , ftp user name etc. How do I go about downloading , uploading , and installing the theme through filezilla ? I am a bit confused . Any help would be greatly appreciated .

same credentials as you use to access your data via ftp(filezilla)
You may ask hosting provider support for details.

it doesn’t work because of earthlink host

that’s the reason I have to use filezilla or 3rd party

How do I install a different Theme ? I know how to activate the defaulted theme.

When I try to install a new theme , it asks me for those credentials for the ftp site but it doesn’t install

thank you wpyogi, when I login into FTP filezilla , should there be any files ? or can I just delete everything ? and reinstall wordpress

I don’t know how Earthlink’s server is set up. Have you installed WordPress yet? This seems to be relevant:

Well , I’m redoing work for someone that gave up on this project for a friend. I haven’t installed anything myself, but there are files in there such as cgibin private public htaaccess etc.
