   DO NOT DOWNLOAD OR INSTALL WP2.8! The installation package does not work! WOW what a bunch of mindless idiots! With much fanfare they announced the release of the great new WordPress 2.8 and put a link to the installation .zip file. I downloaded it and SURPRISE! There is only one folder (wp-includes) and 8 PHP files inside. These are:
   1 index.php
   2 wp-atom.php
   3 wp-rdf.php
   4 xmlrpc.php
   5 wp-comments-post.php
   6 wp-register.php
   7 wp-commentsrss2.php
   8 wp-rss.php
   So I think...WHAT'S THIS? There is no config-sample.php file at all. So I figured something must have changed and I checked the installation instructions on the website. The instructions are exactly the same as for v2.7.1 which I've installed hundreds of times. Has anybody figured out what these morons have done? Where is the real download file for WordPress v2.8? Did they post the wrong file? Should I scrap using WordPress 2.8 until these dorks get it right? You would think somebody might check they have the right file before they post it on the website. If I'm frustrated I cannot imagine what somebody new to WordPress will think. Can anybody help?

   Problem is on your end. I've downloaded it to 3 different machines the last 2 days. Works great.

   Look in the mirror before you start spouting ignorance at others.

   I downloaded the WordPress v2.8 RC1 file (Release Candidate 1) and it works OK! By the way, there is no download mirror.

   lol.. nobody said anything about a download mirror.. it was your mirror.

   The download worked for me with no problems.

   Download it again, check the filesize and try a different unzip program.

   And next time you have a problem count to ten and ask for help politely.

   Download works for me. Sometimes people will have problems, especially with Vista, unzipping files. Download http://7zip.org and use that.
