• Can anybody please help?
I went to update WordPress yesterday and must have done something wrong because now I cannot get into the back end of my site and I have this strange message on the front-end:

Warning: call_user_func_array() [function.call-user-func-array]: First argument is expected to be a valid callback, ‘_show_post_preview’ was given in /websites/123reg/LinuxPackage22/mi/nd/yo/mindyourpaws.co.uk/public_html/blog/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 406

plus the site cannot find any pages.

I have tried disabling all plugin one-by-one via ftp but to know avail, unfortunately I’m not a coder so this is all a bit alien to me.
    My site is http://www.mindyourpaws.co.uk

    Hi Kakoma,

    Thanks for the reply.

I went to that url and did manage to get to the login page, entered my details and then got this:

I’m no expert but this all looks pretty scary to me …

No worries. Did the update complete successfully?

I’ve no idea, I haven’t been able to get into the backend of my site since this happened.

Not really sure what to do now 🙁

    Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

    Hi Esmi,

    Thanks for your advice.

I will try your suggestion ‘switching to the default theme’ first.
I have a uDesign theme and a uDesign child theme, which one should I add “-old” too?

    Thanks

If the child theme is active, add it to the child theme’s folder.

    Hi Esme,

I have no success with switching to the default theme.
Would you possibly be able to tell me how to go about running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

    Thanks 🙂

Did you reset the plugin folder yet?

I tried renaming the plugin folder and then tried renaming each plugin separately to see if that did anything, but it didn’t work.

Is that the same as resetting the plugin folder?
