• Hi,

I’m have a couple questions regarding configuration of the homepage on the twenty eleven template.

-I’d like to insert a ‘featured listings’ widget into the header and don’t know where to do this. Thoughts?

-I’d like to insert a ‘search homes’ widget in the main body area of the homepage. Thoughts?

I have not been able to do either of these things through the dashboard/backend so I am assuming I will need to alter the code and upload through FTP. All help / insight is much appreciated!@

  • Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress 3.2 theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues.

Create a child theme for your customisations. Once your child theme is active, we should be able to help with the customisation.

I’ve actually already created a child theme. That being said… do you have any thoughts on my inquiries?

    Thanks! -ed

    1. You’d need to create a modified header.php template file in your child theme and adjust the child’s CSS to suit.

    2. You’d need to create a modified index.php template file in your child theme and, again, adjust the child’s CSS to suit.
