WordPress trying to install plugin in wrong directory (2 posts)

I migrated a number of sites from one server to another, same domain names. I was having issues with all pages being blank until I deleted the plugins directory manually and reinstalled them all on the new server.

However, one site insists on trying to install the plugins in the folder from the old sever.

    Unpacking the packageā€¦

    Installing the pluginā€¦

Could not create directory. /path on old server/html/wp-content/plugins/404-simple-redirect/

    Plugin install failed.

Only one site is having this problem. I have reinstalled wordpress but can't get the install to reset to the new sever file system. Everything else is working fine.

How do I manually tell wordpress the path to the new plugin directory?

    Any help is appreciate. Thanks.

    Hi @tfirestine

I haven't come across this issue myself before. You could spend a while to find out what is causing it. I would actually start the whole transfer process again from scratch. I would advise using a WordPress site transfer plugin, as it makes the process of transferring a site from one server to another very easy.

The simplest plugin to use is this WP Clone: http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-clone-by-wp-academy/

However I have found that you can run into some issues with some servers/hosting providers.

    A more advanced/complicated alternative is Duplicator: http://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/

Try to transfer the site using WP Clone, that should fix your issue and will only take about 10 min.

    I hope that helps.
