    Hello,

I’m hoping to get some assistance with making SMTP work. I have WordPress 3.9.1 installed on a RHEL 6.5 server. It’s a fresh install…pretty much the only things I have running are the basics (LAMP). I’m hosting this server locally, and I have an Exchange 2010 server that is local as well.

I want to setup WordPress to relay emails through my Exchange 2010 servers, rather than use PHP Mail. I’ve tried a multitude of WordPress SMTP plugins, but none seem to get the job done; I just get the “SMTP connect () failed”.

I have the relay allowed in Exchange 2010. I’m able to telnet from RHEL to the Exchange server just fine and send a manual email. It has to be something with my WordPress or PHP configuration. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • I assume that you tried the wp-smtp plugin already? Did you follow the instructions they provide for setting it up? Can you provide a little more information on the error?

This is a fairly advanced question that looks like it probably won’t get much traction here. I’d suggest that you contact the plugin author and see if they can help you out.

I ended up figuring out the problem. The problem happened to be with SELinux not allowing Apache to send emails. Thanks!
