WordPress slows to standstill

    Hi hope someone can give some advice please.

    I have a document which is just under 6000 words (unfortunately cannot be split over two pages) trouble when I go to edit it I find it is very slow to function including getting a repeated ‘Not responding’ error.

    Can anyone suggested a way to prevent this the page is OK when viewed but not when being edited it is most frustrating.

    Any help really appreciated.

    Can you replicate the problem using the default Twenty Twelve theme with all plugins deactivated?

    many thanks for getting back to me, Esmi, I loaded Twenty Twelve and deactivated all plugins and the page edited at normal speed I tried with all plugins activated and it was just as slow so I will reactivate plug ins individually while running twenty twelve and see if there is a conflict.

    My best guess is that one of your plugins is pre-processing content on demand before that content is displayed for editing. It may only be intended to process content on the front end of the site (eg like a related posts plugin might) but if it’s not been coded too well, it may also be running on the admin side too.

    Hi esmi You are correct I loaded the plug ins back in one by one and the one causing the problem was the Keyword Statistics plug in. kept it out and all is being edited normally. I never thought of that as this was the only page i had a problem with. The strange thing is that I have pages of over 5000 words on my other site and Keyword Statistics and edit that page no problem.
