WordPress site incredibly slow, even in Admin

I did search and did see similar questions, but they were all somewhat different, with commentary telling new folks to start their own topics. With that…

My WordPress site is extremely slow, including the admin pages. I have reduced the size of my graphics, optimized my database, done the cache thing, changed my theme twice to be more minimalist, and finally, deactivated every plug-in.

Since the site is self-hosted, I called my hosting company and they insist it is not on their end. My other Web site with that host is not WordPress and is zippy as can be. I don’t know what to try next. I’m hoping someone here has an idea.

Slowness/high CPU usage could be due to (but not limited to):
– a poor or memory intensive theme
– poor or memory intensive plugins. You mentioned deactivating every plug-in
– your server is slow (e.g., “process hang”, overload, you get a lot of visitors, other problems, etc.). But your host claims otherwise!

Seems like your server issue. In our test, your server responded in 3.2 seconds.

Also, this could be help you.

1. Go to the root directory of your website and find .htaccess (it may be a hidden file).

Open it and add at the very top of it the following code:

Thanks for the suggestions.

Like I said, I disabled EVERY plugin so I don’t see how running a test to see which plugins are slowing me down can help.

The .htaccess file doesn’t help because it is an IIS server, not Apache.

Am I doomed to having the slowest WordPress site on the Internet?

Our Admin options are incredibly slow too, even though it’s a new site and only 2 developers. What I don’t understand though is why we don’t get the same problems when logged in as an Author, when looking at All Posts for example is almost instant. If logged in as Admin the same option takes 10+ seconds every time.
