I have a website that is active and built already, however i am trying to create the website using WordPress. I have currently created a sub directory on my website http://www.yourdomain.ca/wordpress. However my problem is that on cpanel i do not know how to design my site. I have uploaded the template via file manager but i do not know where to go from there. I also have to make sure that my website is live while i work on the new re created one. Does any one know what i should do?

you don't design your site through cpanel.
login to the wordpress admin interface and do everything from there.
http://www.yourdomain.ca/wordpress/wp-login.phpthemes should go into the wordpress/wp-content/themes folder, then you can activate them from the admin interface.
