[resolved] WordPress sidebar doesn't work in Internet Explorer 6.0 (7 posts)

I've tried getting help for this issue several times; someone has to know what might be wrong. Please help if you have any idea whatsoever. Thanks!

I have two websites (both using the latest WordPress and K2 versions), thursdayfridaysaturday and angieslistpodcasts, both with the same problem: the widgets in my navigation sidebar are all piled on top of one another when the pages are viewed in Internet Explorer 6.

The sites have been up for awhile, but I just noticed the error today when I checked them out on my mother-in-law's computer - I guess I've only viewed the site in Safari, Firefox, and IE 7 until today. I've been searching, for the past few hours, for people who've had similar problems on a variety of sites (K2, WordPress, etc.), but no one's had this problem that I've found, though they do have CSS-related problems in IE 6. I assume it's a CSS issue, and the closest solution I've found is at this site, but I'm afraid the fix this guy recommends is a bit complicated for my limited CSS knowledge. Plus, I don't want to go into the CSS and start mucking around without even being sure of what the problem is.

Has anyone else had this problem? Can you view my sites in IE 6 and tell me what's wrong, or at least provide some guidance? I think a lot of people viewing my sites are on the older IE, and I don't want my sites to look unprofessional.

    Thanks in advance!

Next time try to give a link if you want helpers to take a look at your site.

Your code does not validate for XHTML transitional and it has quite a few errors as far as what is supported in IE6.

The validation errors are easy to fix but I don't know about the specific IE6 errors. Examples of a few of those not supported; dir="ltr", profile="http://gmpg.org/xfn/11',rel="bookmark",charset="utf-8",'type="application/rss+xml"'.

Correcting validation errors is the starting point.

Sorry Moshu, thought I entered them but apparently the links didn't show up:

    Angie's List podcasts

    thursdayfridaysaturday.com

And kmessinger, thank you for the note. I've validated before and seen all the errors, but am not sure I can fix them myself. I'll try though, so thanks for the note. If anyone else can look at the site and possibly tell me what's wrong from personal experience, I'd appreciate the feedback. Thanks!

Well, I've checked the sites in IE6... and don't see anything out of ordinary. So, you will have to do a better job explaining the "piled up" thing.

I apologize once again, moshu: the problem's been resolved. The ShareThis plugin I'd installed caused the problem that you didn't see ;) So I've deleted that plugin and am using Feedburner's FeedFlare instead. Thanks for checking, though, and sorry to waste your time :(

to add to this problem...a different scenario. I recently noticed that my pages post content only at the bottom of the left sidebar on IE. But on firefox, the post shows up immediately after the header where it should.

    any thoughts?
