WordPress Removed (I Thought) Yet Ads Persist…

    Hello WordPress Forum,

    I recently removed (Or thought I did) an installed WordPress from my server. Everything was fine until I started building a new site on that server and noticed ads being generated within the new content. These are the sorts of ads that show up as the underlined words that generate a pop-up ad when scrolled over. …I assume this means that I’ve missed some WP files when trying to delete the main content. …My new site (in progress) along with the ads can be seen at 3dkitbash.com.

    …Id there a known file on the server I should delete?

    I don’t see any ads on that site – perhaps your computer is infected with malware? Can you try another machine and/or other browser?

    Your site does look clean on Securi, so not likely a hack.

    Thanks a ton for the fast response!

    I checked the site on a separate computer and the ads never occurred. Looks like it’s a virus, as you predicted. I’ll start some scans (I use avast) and see if I can clear it out.

    If you have any advice for clearing such a virus, I’d try anything you suggest.

    But no matter, thanks a lot for the scan and the help! ~Q
