I'm posting this on behalf of a friend who is having major login problems.

It began when she noticed that she had her blog theme reset to WP's Default. In attempting to correct this, her password at login was rejected. She then tried the 'Forgot your password?' hotlink at the login page, but has not heard back from WP at all. She cannot access the forums as her login is being rejected - hence my post on her behalf as a fellow WP user.

What could be going on here? Email hack, virus, what?

    Cheers in advance.

  2. It could be a variety of things. The first thing to do would be to reset the password. There are a few ways to do that detailed here:

Sadly her site has been hacked so she's now into the long process of cleaning up.

I attempted the FTP method of inserting code to change password and when I tried logging in again, got a lurid you've been hacked page from some nasty bottom feeder called syskc0

    Thanks for your help.

  5. You're welcome! Sorry that it wasn't as simple as a password reset.

She may want to refer to this article while she's cleaning up the hack:
