WordPress randomly deletes tags / categories

    Every so often I notice that all my tags / categories disappear from all of my posts.

    If I go “Posts->Post Tags” or “Posts->Categories” I still see them all, but if I click on any post then they are no longer there.

    This has happened to me before and it is annoying to have to redo all this every time.

    EDIT: This usually happens when I am in the middle of making a post or something, so it is either restore from backup (and redo the post) or go through and redo tags/categories.

    -deactivating ALL plugins temporarily to narrow down and possibly fix the problem. If the problem goes away, activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin.

    -switching to the default theme (“twentyten”) for a moment by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes. The idea is to force WordPress to fall back to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific issue.

    -if that does not resolve the issue, you may try increasing memory available for php.
