   Hi,

   I am looking for reports / references on the number of wordpress installations and general popularity of the platform.

   This report has WP at a minimum of 10% and possibly up to 15% of the Alexa Top 1 Million sites.

   Any more references?

   Along these lines is a general breakdown of the ratio of WordPress users who are self hosted vs. wordpress.com known?

   Not really. A lot of people have 'versus' sites talking about it, but all numbers are sort of grey, since they rely on search data, which doesn't count the 'real' number of users, just the number of sites that come up on a search for wordpress.com or wordpress.org :/
