WordPress policy on Adwords (5 posts)

Does anyone know of the WordPress policy on Adwords? I've just had an ad disallowed in the USA (but allowed in the UK) because it used the (trademarked) term WordPress in it (I specialise in WP designs). At the same time I see innumerable other adwords text ads using the term.

Is there an official document that says yay or nay that I can look at?

(WordPress isn't part of the top level domain name; it's a subdomain, which is allowed, and in any case the Google rep who emailed me said that Google doesn't look a the domain name when approving or disapproving ads. So it's strictly use of the term 'WordPress' in the ad.)

    Thanks!

I believe the holder of the trademark is automattic so if you get no answers you might address that question to

Thanks Michael, I've already done that. I know from reading around the internet that there's a lot of confusion and a need for clarification, but as yet there is no clarification.

What I can't understand is how come (until yesterday) there were a million adverts using WordPress in their text but today on Google.co.uk and Google.com all Adwords are now using 'WP'

You'd have thought Automattic would be keen on people spreading the word...

I'll have to change my Ad text like everyone else has (overnight) done ...
