  • You mean Internet Explorer I’m guessing?

This is just how Internet Explorer works. Every version has had major “upgrades” (said very sarcasticly) that pretyt much break the layout rules in each new version. Thats why IE is the most hated browser amoung web developers and designers. There’s just way to many inconsitencies with the way that it lays out web pages.

So, without knowing your webiste it’s impossible to tell you what you need to change. You can paste the URL here as well as what versions you are having problems with and how it’s expected to look.

    Grately appreciate your reply Michael,

I noticed my website http://www.LeylinesWallpaper.com looks fine on my iPhone and on my own PC but recently viewing my site on an older internet explorer the entire screen looked rearranged and I’m sure any potential customers seeing my website this way will be scared off, so is there anything I can do at all?

    Many thanks,

    Laurence

You can re-do the sites theme. That’s really the only option that you have. Either set up some IE-specific hacks to set up the layout to be correct, or use a different layout/theme that does work in older versions of IE. Unfortuantely developing for IE *anything* is not easy, and when you’re trying to push it back to older browsers as well, it gets a whole lot more complicated.

You ought to have valid webpages to W3C standards, before resolving compatibility issues. Usually a compatible webpage resolves common IE issues, however a webpage can be fully valid and still have browser compatibility issues. You should still first validate your website.

Ok, well I’ll leave it as it is before I ruin my entire website.

    Thanks for the help guys!

    Ill take a look into w3c 🙂
