Were you using your own domain name on your wordpress.com site? If so, you will need to point it to your new self-hosted site.

Do you still have to use WordPress.com when using the WordPress.org download? DOes this mean I still have to use domain mapping? Or can I create themes from Godaddy if I installed wordpress……….

Yes I was using my own domain name, is there something I have to remove from WordPress.com or do I make the change using GOdaddy?

Would it be easier to uninstall WordPress from Godaddy? Does Godaddy only let you use WordPress.com? Am I missing info?

I was under the assumption I could edit 3.5.1 from my hosting site if it was downloaded properly. But this doesn’t seem to be the case.

No. Your self-hosted site is quite independent of wordpress.com but you will have to point your custom domain name to your new site. Who is currently the domain’s registrar – Godaddy?
Once the domain name change has been made & the changes have propagated fully, you will be able access your new self-hosted site without any problems.

Yes I choose GoDaddy for hosting because my domain is also registered with them. So Am I wrong in thinking I can edit my website in my hosting where I downloaded WordPress? Once I point my domain to my host this will fix the issue? Basically point Godaddy to Godaddy? But then will I be able to use the WordPress to create my site? Sorry for the questions just confused! Should I cancel WordPress.com account as I’m being taken there thru Godaddy.

As I said above, once the domain name change has been made & the changes have propagated fully, you will be able access your new self-hosted WordPress site without any problems.
