WordPress not able to select my database (7 posts)

This is the message i get when going to the install.php:

    Can’t select database

We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the "xxxxxxxxx database.

    Are you sure it exists?
Does the user xxxxxxxxx have permission to use the "xxxxxxxx database?
On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username, so it would be like username_"xxxxxxx. Could that be the problem?

I copy/pasted them from my hosting site to the config file, but it still doesn't work.

I know for a fact that the database name is correct because I copy/pasted the right one, and at my webhost, it says "MySQL database" right on top of it.

I really don't know what to do at this point.

Also, I'm not sure if this matters, but both my $mysql_database and my $mysql_user have the exact same name.

I replaced all the info with "xxxxx" on purpose.

I would greatly appreciate any sort of help!

    Thanks in advance!

    that's ok to do
not sure what to tell you but maybe check with host to see if you need to prepend the db name or something

    EDIT: FIXED

If anyone wants a good laugh, see the quotation marks right before the xxxxxxxx's ? That was the problem. I must have hit it in error while typing my Database name. Thanks again Samuel for trying to help!

Thank you for your response Samuel. What do you mean by prepending the db name?

Also, I'm using http://www.000webhost.com's free hosting service.

Some functions aren't included in their free service, such as SSH access and SMTP servers.

You can browse the full list quickly and easily at http://www.000webhost.com Just scroll down a bit.

Do you think any of the options that I'm not offered as a free user might be the problem?

Haha yeah, every little detail counts.

    Thanks again. :)

Edit: actually have another small problem...

I put the wordpress blog at a subdomain... how do I set it up on the main domain?

CameraStep.com is unavailable, while CameraStep.com/wordpress is where the blog is at. I want it switched.

Do you know how to go about this Samuel? Or I'll search the forums a bit if anything.
