This theme was the winner from Typo's theme contest and I think it's pretty nice.It's simple yet elegant and not the typical 2 or 3 column theme-ie look we see all the time.
Also, the header that holds the blog title is universal.Sometimes I see nice themes but it may have a yucky header with flowers or something.This type of design is great for those with no graphics skills but who still want an awsome looking blog.

Similar designs exist. Check out the themes archives in Alex King's site. There are many more 'out in the wild'.
Looks a lot like Squibble to me...just without some of the functionality ;)

Of course, with over 400 themes available, there are more than enough themes out there to create "an awsome looking blog". As Roysv said, "To each his own."

Squible and kiwi are definite themes of the furure, but still take a lot of work to make look really nice.Plus they come with loads of plugins and other built in stuff you may not want and it's a hassle having to remove it all especially if you are a newbie to dealing with codes, html, and css stuff.
Simplicity is also needed here.
