    WordPress MU in subfolder/subdirectory (not in root folder)
    Will this work? I need to use apache Virtual host which will look similar to this below. My two sites need to share the same ip address. Both sites will be Network or MU sites. I have heard that a Multisite has to be installed on the servers html root directory. Is that true? Can the htaccess rewrite rules be altered for it to work? I am using version 3.4.1. I've also heard that this problem is fixed in version 3.5

    My httpd.conf below:

    NameVirtualHost *:80

    <VirtualHost *:80>
    ServerName site1.com
    DocumentRoot "var/www/html/site1.com"
    DirectoryIndex index.php index.html index.htm
    </VirtualHost>

    <VirtualHost *:80>
    ServerName site2.com
    DocumentRoot "var/www/html/site2.com"
    DirectoryIndex index.php index.html index.htm
    </VirtualHost>

    I am not sure I understand that right. Your DocumentRoot point to different filesystem directories. Does it make sense?

  3. That's not what we mean by 'same folder' :)

    Your 'root' folder is var/www/html/site1.com and that's okay :)

    What we mean is when your root folder is var/www/html/site1.com but you put WP in var/www/html/site1.com/wp

    You should be just fine.
