WordPress media upload stuck on crunching (5 posts)

    I am trying to upload large audio files with the WordPress Media Uploader. I've worked with my hosting company to set max file upload size to 128mb, timeout to 30 minutes and memory to 256mb.
    The audio files are about 50mb. They load completely to 100% then get stuck at "crunching". I let it crunch for an hour....

    Tech support at my hosting company is stumped.

    Has anyone got any ideas?

    Followup...
    I was able to upload a 6mb audio file, but still no luck with the 50mb files.

  3. You could upload via ftp / file manager and then import into the WordPress Media Manager with http://wordpress.org/plugins/add-from-server/.

    Thank you Patrick. This worked. This will be a good workaround. I just need to teach the person that posts to the website how to ftp files :)

  5. Try one last thing before resorting to this method.

    Create a file in the root directory called "php.ini." The root directory is where the wp-config.php and the wp-content, wp-includes, wp-admin folders are located. In this file add:

    upload_max_filesize = 100M

    Chances are high this won't work, but it's worth a shot. Unless you're on a VPS or Dedicated Server you are stuck with whatever the hosting provider has set.
