I don't understand, does this mean that I can legally change file names, images of the wordpress logo, icons etc, and not give credits to wordpress? And if I do need to give credit, how do I do it, where do I put it?

What were your thoughts on all of those questions after reading the license?

Here is a thread with a similar question, and some links to some interesting information, if you want to take a look: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/wordpress-fork?replies=8

    Thanks for your answer.
After reading this link, I understand that I can change the names of the files(wp_FILE to cms_FILE) but should leave the "about wordpress" as is and the credit at the bottom of the page as well, and write my site's logo with rerence to wordpress at the entrance to the panel.
    Is this correct?

In a nutshell, the most common interpretation of the GPL license would seem to indicate that you can go ahead and do anything you want to with WordPress. But... you have to adhere to the terms of the license in doing so.

If you're really prepared to undertake a project of this nature, the best answer is to suggest that you should consult with legal representation for accurate advice.
