WordPress kills my wireless??
-
OK. This is going to sound very WIERD. This post is goign to sound like it has nothing to do with WordPress, but in 2 months of keeping track of my problem, this is the best I can come up with. Please read on, and give me some feedback on what you think…
###
SITUATION: When working on our laptops (mine = OS-X, wife’s = XP) via wireless connection, we occasionally would get dropped. Our wireless network would “vanish”. Only way we could get back on, was to reboot the Netgear wireless router. This has gone on for a few months, somedays worse than others. I can spend all day on my wired desktop computer with no problems. But when it goes down from one of the laptops, it takes down my entire network.
MY EFFORTS: I’ve made several calls to Comcast, my cable internet provider, they see no trouble. I’ve made several calls to Netgear, who have had me change MTU (i think – something about packet sizes) settings a couple times, with no success. My router’s firmware is current. They see no trouble on their end. I didn’t even bother calling Vonage, because I completely removed the Vonage box and phone for two whole days and saw no improvement in my problem.
CONCLUSIONS: During the past few months, I’ve started working with WordPress. I have close to a dozen installations. It would appear, that I have the problem ONLY when I’m in the admin area of SOME of my blogs. I can’t put my finger on what the problem is. It does it on my Mac. It does it on my Dell. It does it in IE, Firefox, and Safari. It ONLY happens when I’m in the admin area of WordPress, but only on 3 of my dozen or so blogs.
All of the blogs but 3 are on the exact same hosting platform (apache, freebsd). I can go into admin areas of anything else all day long with no problems. So it’s not a “secure” thing. I’m going completely bonkers with this.
HELP! Anybody! Have you ever seen anything like this??
