• I did the upgrade as the instructions said, and update the database (it said nothing had to be done) but it still says “UPGRADE TO WORDPRESS 2.5” on the admin screen.

Did I miss a file, or is there something that I should do? Did I not really upgrade?

    Thanks
    Austen

WordPress only pings wordpress.org 3 times daily to see if theres an updated version available.

After you update, it’ll remember the old version notification for a few hours.

As long as your footer says “WordPress 2.5” and its not still reminding you to upgrade tomorrow, it hsould resolve itself.

I have the same problem and the footer says 2.3.3. I have replaced all of the files in the root directory with the new distribution and run upgrade.php.

yeah my problem as well. it keeps telling me to update to 2.5 even though i’ve already done it.

are we going to get an answer to this??

I’m trying to figure this out also… same thing happened to me and I’ve still got the older version to work with and I’m trying to sort out why.

Check wp-includes/version.php. It should say 2.5. If version.php is not there then all the files did not get copied.

swruler9284 I am not sure you really got upgraded without upgrading the database. It seems that would be mandatory.

i checked my version.php and it says 2.5 but logging into my admin it still is telling me to upgrade to 2.5.

should we anticipate a fix to this any time soon?

    any resolution or advice forthcoming?

There is no fix or resolution. If you’d upgraded to 2.5, you’d know it immediately, the dashboard looks completely different than it did before.

All we can tell you is that you uploaded the WordPress files to the wrong place or the wrong server or *something*. But we didn’t watch you upgrade and we cannot see the contents of your server. You did something wrong, but we cannot tell you what.

well the funny thing is that all my dashboard etc has changed and i have all the 2.5 features. even my version.php file says i’m running 2.5 BUT when i log into my admin panel it prompts me to upgarde to 2.5

i don’t think i did “something”. if i did, then i did the same “something” as quite a few people having the same issue.

just trying to figure out why it’s not recognizing the upgrade.

    [update]

fixed the problem. it now recognizes the upgrade to 2.5. good luck everyone else.

well it was weird but for some reason the variable holding the current version was being overwritten as a result of a functions.php file within one of my theme folders.

it was making some weird calls to the host and resulting in the current version being overwritten (not recognized)

i deleted that crap and all was good. 🙂

all except my gallery that is..which is another issue i guess trying to get the images/gallery to work properly…i keep getting the Specified File Failed Upload error a few people are getting.

Well, I solved my problem. I had some files that weren’t actually updated… b/c of the way Yahoo! webhosting originally set up the database for WordPress – my problem was solved after I read this: http://codex.wordpress.org/User:MichaelH/Installation_Notes/Yahoo

So if anyone else has Yahoo! Webhosting, that may help.

Well..well..I was seriously thinking of Upgrading to 2.5…
    HOWEVER….
After reading all this…my gut tells me ..
    Steve, you better wait …

All those folks that have posted local government issues on my current version would be less than unhappy if their well thought out blogs suddenly evaporated !

I think I will keep reading the forum for a few days !
