WordPress Integration with current site

I’ve looked at other options for a blogging on my site, such as cutenews, but they don’t seem suited to me. At the moment I’m thinking of using wordpress but it all depends on whether I can integrate it with my existing layout since I don’t wish to use any of the themes.

Keeping in mind my layout is simply made out of tables, text, images and some php (I don’t have much knowledge of CSS.)

I’ve looked at this page and from what I can understand I have two options. Creating an entirely new theme which takes a lot of effort but ultimately gives me the ability to directly manage my site from WordPress and use the many plugins that are downloadable, or using some sort of script which pulls the articles from the word press blog and integrates them with my existing design which gives me a little more flexibility.

Which do you think would be the best option? I’m leaning towards the latter one but I can’t find any tutorials on how to achieve this. I’m open to any suggestions.
