• One quick question. I’m installing a WordPress CMS to a website that already has an index file/splash page that was created in dreamweaver. These are located in the httpdocs folder. Do I need to remove this file, or will WordPress automatically override it? It’d be for a one-click WP installation.
    Thanks.

  • Are you removing the website at the same time? If you need to keep the website until the WordPress goes live then you can install WordPress into its own directory.

Your index file if it is index.php will be overwritten so the website will not work.

For tidiness I install WordPress into it’s own directory so there is less clutter in the root.
