   The WordPress 3.0 install appears to have completed. In the CP I am reading an instruction that says the full url to the admin area (bookmark this) and then it gives my domain plus the wp-admin directory. When I try to bookmark the link, it comes back with an error stating that the requested url was not found on this server. I also get the same error message post install when clicking on the link to visit site.

   Slight update to my last post. The visit site link in the CP now goes to a page that says under construction. Which I believe to be perfectly okay, since I have not uploaded any content. Still can't get in to the admin site though.

   sounds like you may need to delete the host's index.html so wordpress' index.php can work

   No records found when I do a file search for index.htm. I have an index-extra.php.

   Turned out to be a training and education issue on my end. My apologies for wasting your valuable time. Hopefully my future post's solutions will actually have something to do with WordPress.
