Sort Order by Date in WP Gallery ("in-built") resorts to order by ID. Not sure if this is a bug or intended feature.
In the WP codex I am not able to spot the code that does the order by date. Simply using [gallery orderby="Date" ...] does not work either!

Strangely enough, in WP2.9.1 when you're in the Post editor and go to Upload/Insert and select "Gallery",
there's an option to:
Order images by:...
If you select "Date/Time" it pastes the following into the code editor:
[gallery orderby="ID"] Now I don't think orderby ID will order the gallery on Date/Time.
This must surely be a bug?

2.9.2 same issue.
Quite a serious bug. Any indication that this will be looked at or is it yet another essential feature that will be left buggy for countless releases to come?
Well, that's priceless. New version released and the bug still not fixed. Epic fail!

Ditto. I've just been aimlessly trying to get this to work and it fails (wordpress 3.0, orderby).
