WordPress for pinging Blog Aggregators? (11 posts)

How do I ping blog aggregators from WordPress? I have seen a discussion about it, but no conclusion. To my mind as a prospective WordPress user, this is an extremely high priority requirement. I would like to ping automatically from within WordPress just like I do from Movable Type. Unless it is there and I have just missed it, two questions:
    1) Is there any hack for this that is usable today, and 2) is there an estimated date for when this function will be included in WordPress?

Thanx. What do I do if I want to ping blog aggregators not on Ping-O-Matic's list? As far as I can tell Ping-O-Matic has a fixed list of aggregators it pings. The aggregators I want to ping are not on that list.

... and you can replace pingomatic with or add any services you want. It's in the Options; Writing, I think. IOW, the functionality is included.

I have that very same problem also.
Can't ping no other directories other than ping-o-matic.
I would like to know if it's impossible to ping other directories. I have an option to ping manually to the directories I want. But, I just want to if we can do it automatically.
    Thanks in advanced.

If you're using 1.2, it has a problem with pinging and trackbacks.

Or it doesn't depending on with whom you are talking ;-)

Ok. *I* have a problem with pinging and trackbacks, and I'm using WordPress 1.2. :P

So we'll have to settle for pinging manually then. No problem, I can live with this until this problem gets fixed.
    Thanks for answering, greetings :-)

You can also try using a software tool such as Blog Blaster to ping a lot of blog directories. http://www.dummysoftware.com/blogblaster.html
