    We are running a master/slave/slave setup with HyperDB & wordpress 3.4.1. Everything works until the master is off. Stopping mysql on master does not cause the problem. If I set to never read or write to the master pages load. See below.

    I'm running mysq1 5.5.24 and apache 2.2.14

    //foreach($WH_DB_MASTERS as &$master_server){
    	$wpdb->add_database(
    		array(
    		'host'     => 'mydbdame.com',     // If port is other than 3306, use host:port.
    		'user'     => DB_USER,
    		'password' => DB_PASSWORD,
    		'name'     => DB_NAME,
    		'write'    => 0,
    		'read'     => 0,
    		'timeout'  => 0.2,
    		)
    	);

    I get errors on the dashboard with above set:

    Notice: Only variable references should be returned by reference in /var/www/demo/wp-content/db.php on line 478 Notice: Only variable references should be returned by reference in /var/www/demo/wp-content/db.php on line 478 Notice: Only variable references should be returned by reference in /var/www/demo/wp-content/db.php on line 478 Notice: Only variable references should be returned by reference in /var/www/demo/wp-content/db.php on line 478

    I also get this error sometimes:

    Notice: Undefined variable: server in /var/www/spdemo101/wp-content/db.php on line 616

    We have this working on WordPress 3.3.X and MySQL 5.1

    Yes! I am getting the line 616 error too. Is HyperDB not in development anymore? I really want to use this, but to not have beyond 3.3 compatibility is a bust.

    I have a workaround in the db-config.php file if you are interested, but I would really like automatic to release an update.
