I have a problem.
Since 2 days I can't write into my Blog (http://blog.hg-l.com) anymore. Under the Savebutton where it sais "saving..." comes now "unknown error".
I didn't change any options or something. Last time I wrote something is about 7 days ago so I even wasn't on my Blog since then. Now I upgraded from 2.5 to 2.5.1 in hope to change things, but no chance. Even alone saving an entry doesn't work. The upgrade went well.
help please

Just quickly before I go to bed here.
Have you actually checked anything yourself?
I'm assuming the blog linked in your profile is the one in question.
Most of your links go to non-existent pages or do absolutely nothing.
When I run your page through a validator I get this:
' Sorry, I am unable to validate this document because on line 70 it contained one or more bytes that I cannot interpret as utf-8 (in other words, the bytes found are not valid values in the specified Character Encoding). Please check both the content of the file and the character encoding indication.
The error was: utf8 "\xFC" does not map to Unicode '
I would think this is not (primarily) a WordPress issue, and I'm usually the one to yell at WordPress first. ;)

Sry, the .htaccess was renamed.
I already tried anything I could imagine (even doin' without permalinks even though they do not apply at admin-interface).
It keeps telling me an unknown error.
I would think of an JS-Error. Too bad WP doesn't put out any logs :(
edit: Now I am confused.
WP won't save anything into the database.
I just wanted to try to edit something and it just won't save.
After I press "Save" it WP loads up a page with all settings and lots of "SERIALIZED DATA"-Fields :S

Sorry, I'm not an expert on these matters (relatively new to WP) , but I would think the database upgrade failed and that's why you have problems.
I remember that I read somewhere that in the upgrade process, when the strings get corrupted (afaik, serialized data are turned into strings from memory to be stored in the DB), a server can't convert those data back into a PHP object.
Just a stab in the dark.
Others should be able to help a lot better here, but if nobody else chimes in, this is what I would do:
Try to get your backup data into the DB (hope you have a backup), revert everything back to what it was before, and reinstall WP while making sure the DB upgrade script runs properly.
Beyond that, sorry, I'm far too dumb when it comes around to WP.

I knew it was a failure to update. Great that the update doesn't show when there are any errors...
Gonna take a look how to settle this.

I for one would be interested in hearing when you get it fixed. It might also help others down the road who run into the same/similar problems.

Do u have the google sitmap plugin installed? if so try disable it.

No I only have statspress and seo and those tried to disable, but what deus62 said seems to be right.
Gonna backup the statspress and my posts since no comments have been left, only massive readings and mailings I shall keep writing ^^

So, are you actually working with a broken setup right now or did you kick-start it from the ground up again?
