I was just given access to a domain for my university's radio station. The server has PHP and I have edited wp-config.php to connect to a MySQL database on a server that I use for personal web hosting. I've uploaded the files and when I go to http://wdsr.org/wp (or http://wdsr.org/wp/wp-admin/install.php) nothing happens. No errors or anything. It just times out after a few minutes. I know that I've uploaded everything correctly, and I can even access http://wdsr.org/wp/readme.html
I think the problem most likely resides with the web server. Unfortunately, the server admin is kind of lazy and hasn't gotten back to me with any of my problems. Do you perhaps think that the web server is too *slow* and that is why it's timing out? I don't understand why this is happening.
I'm getting a "page not found" at http://wdsr.org/wp/wp-admin/install.php. Did you uninstall?
Actually, I'm not finding http://wdsr.org either. But I do reach http://www.wdsr.org
Are you sure PHP is installed on the server, and that you actually have a database?

If you are behind a router on the same network as the server, you may need to use the local address for the server instead of the public URL for the web site.
Yes, PHP is installed on that server. I was able to run phpinfo() just to make sure. And the database isn't the problem either. If that were the case then I would at LEAST be receiving some sort of error instead of timing out. I think gypsyjae might have a point with routers. The server admin does not appear to know what he is doing, and he doesn't communicate at all. I think I'll just explore offsite hosting.
That might be the simplest solution, not28.

I'm having the same problem and it is not a router problem...
caroline, the same problem as who?
http://www.souldoodles.com/wp-login.php works.
So youre issue is probably a theme problem, or a plugin issue. Go in, change your theme to the default, if it isnt already. If that doesnt fix it, then go in and start deactivating plugins.
Additionally,
http://www.souldoodles.com/wp-content/themes/default/index.php
that 404 isnt a good sign. IF you have theme issues and WP attempts to revert back to the default theme -- your blog will be blank.
Hint hint.

Whooami,
I made a mistake, this is my personal blog, wich is not in use :-) anymore.
BUt I'm trying to install the WP 2.3.3. on my boyfriends domain http://www.sonnymantronic.com/test
That is where the problem is.
At that link, I get the first page of the WordPress install.
