   How to optimize wordpress db to make it faster and stable ?
   Current issue : Very slow (25-40 second per search) on search and some time post page loading very slow too .....

   Hosting spec :
   Dedicated.
   Xeon 2.8 x 4
   8gb ecc ram
   No issue with the server, load average and ping latency is 20-30 ms.

   WordPress : wordpress 2.9.2
   Post : 500000 (five hundred thousand post)
   Tag : 5 million tag.
   Traffic: average 6k UV and 20k impression.

   500,000 posts and 5 MILLION tags?

   Might be time for http://codex.wordpress.org/HyperDB or http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/shardb/

   my initial plan was installing sphinx search on it ... now even better i can split the db :)

   ipstenu : one question, would it work on normal wp 2.9.2 not wpmu or multi site ?

   No idea. Probably?

   I would seriously consider upgrading to 3.0.4 mind you. 3.1 is around the corner.

   SharDB won't help with this. The HyperDB 0.1 version is for WP 2.9.X and earlier which you can download under the Other Versions link.
