A totally tentative idea of mine as of now is that it has something to do with a plugin. I have contacted my host and they say it is strictly something wrong with WP and not the database. Any ideas?

    Your host knows nothing.

That is a fault with their database. The files ending MYD and MYI are how mysql stores data - so the host needs to fix that. No-one else can.
