   http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-db-backup/ works as far as manually started backups are concerned.

   Scheduled backups do not work; if I click on the 'Backup planen' (German) button, the current time is set, that all what happens.

   Any ideas?

   It took some time for the scheduled backups to work. I do not know why, however, schedule backups have been created for weeks, so I consider this issue resolved.

   @macmacken: Well, don't consider it resolved. My WordPerss Database Backup periodically "breaks." I have it set to e-mail me a backup daily. It'll work for weeks, then inexplicably stop for several weeks. Then start again. In the meantime, I have to backup manually. So monitor your backup log regularly. Mine stopped working two weeks ago and I cannot find a solution. It seems many people have this problem, yet this plugin is so highly rated.

   Same problem here... scheduled weekly backups to my email address stopped being sent back in June. I keep up to date with the latest WP and plugin version, but still no scheduled backups :(
