[resolved] WordPress custom theme, Fancier Author Box and some CSS problems (6 posts)

    I have an experimental blog. It is my first attempt to use WordPress, uses a custom theme (based on twentyeleven) called “Piratenkleider” and I’ve configured it to use the Fancier Author Box. Actually I’m very happy with the result, I’ve already changed a bit of the style sheet (the box’s boundary was a tad bit too strong for my taste). However I ran into three problems which I think are somewhere in the CSS between the theme and the plugin:

    1. The text of the tabs is too close to the box
    2. On the active tab (either one) there’s a bar across the text (or the tab doesn’t touch the box)
    3. The social media icons are too far apart (I’ve seen it differently)

    I already modified the CSS of the theme a bit: once to disable the "external" markup it adds to any link it deems external and second I changed the style of the Author box's border to be a bit lighter:

    .content-primary a.extern {
    	background: url("");
    	padding-left: 0;
    }

    .ts-fab-tab {
    	border: 1px dotted #333;
    }

    Since I can't upload the screenshot here I've prepared an article in my other blog which shows a picture of the box. Can you help me find the correct styles?

    Many thanks in advance & kind regards from Germany

    Hi,

    Just tested the plugin (Fancier Author Box v1.0.2) on my personal blog (latest WordPress 3.4.2 and default 2011 theme). Everything looks normal.

    Looks like you did something to CSS that displays author box plugin like that.

    Here's the screenshot.

    Hi, Dragan,

    you're right! I just switched to the default twentyeleven theme for a test and voilà: the plugin displays correct: http://awesomescreenshot.com/04flodkbf So my assumption was right, the theme's CSS seems to be botched. Unfortunately I'm not *that* CSS expert - I was hoping you'd be able to give me some pointers on what to look at... nevermind, I'm going to ask the theme guys, too.

    Anyway, thanks for the idea of switching the theme (why didn't I think of that in the first place?) and for the tip on the cool screenshot-tool for firefox ;-)

    Kind regards,

    Henning

    Hello Henning,

    It's difficult to give any pointers until the website is live.

    Regarding the screenshot tool, don't mention it.

    Hi Dragan,

    the page is live - or at least almost. The only major step left to do is put it on its target domain which ist http://www.piratenpartei-bad-vilbel.de/ - this currently still redirects to http://eckradio.de/ppbv/ where I'm developing it.

    Anyway, after talking to the theme developer he told me he'll have a look into it - however it might take some time. I'll give you an update as soon as I find out new details.

    Kind regards,

    Henning
