    Hi

    I am currently building a site using Wp as a CMS...

    I am self taught and still learning the various facets of webdesign and wanted to give WP a go for content management.

    The site I am building seems to have suddenly slowed down significantly and I cant work out why!

    Soooo if anyone can throw light on this Id much appreciate it!

    The link is: http://www.bee-craft.com/BCWP/

    Many thanks

    Dave

    It didn't seem significantly slow to me but if there are slowdowns, it could where you're pulling in content from, or connecting to, 3rd party sites. What permalink structure are you using?

    I see three 404's right off the bat. I'm not sure if that would result in any load time issues or not.

    //www.bee-craft.com/BCWP/style.css (called twice)

    and-

    //www.bee-craft.com/BCWP/buy-sell/beecraft-adverts/style.css

    ..is bee-ing (sorry, I just couldn't resist!) called but not found.

    Overall, it seemed to load pretty well in Firefox. The longest averages were around 4 seconds. IE8 seemed to load a bit faster.

    Hi

    Thanks for the replys

    esmi - I am using the following permalink structure: /%category%/%postname%/

    The only 3rd party interactions are:
    Mals e-commerce - then Worldpay
    Google analytics
    Feedburner

    I have an idea why style.css is called twice, I was editing in dreamweaver and linked to style to view a WP .php I was editing and the changes caused. I bet I left the link in...

    I would say it was probably bee..cause I wasnt paying attention to what i was doing at the time. OK no more bees! haha

    Thanks for the resonses. I have now noticed the site seems to load better at off peak hours, eg 11pm onwards... Would this point to a low server?

    I am using the following permalink structure: /%category%/%postname%/

    That's a really poor choice of permalink structure for a page-heavy site. How many Pages do you currently have?

    Change to a permalink structure that begins with a numeric - such as /%postid%/%postname%/.
