WordPress Changes All My Slugs When Switching Off Comments (4 posts)

    Hi Guys,

I've been incredibly boggled and distressed by the fact that WordPress 3.1 does some wierd thing when I do bulk edits to switch comments off on my self-hosted blog.

If I have done a blog post with the title " My iPhone 4 Review: Top Apps" - just as an example, I'd set a short slug such as " /iphone4-review/ ". But upon a bulk edit with turning off comments, WordPress would change my slug to the title : "/"my-iphone-4-review-top-apps/" - this is really bad and breaks all my links site-wide.

How I did the edits (step by step):

    1. went into post view on dashboard
    2. click select all posts
    3. drop down menu selected "edit" and then "apply" button
    4. In the bulk edit section, comments drop down menu "do not allow".

Once I've confirmed all those changes, all my manually set slugs change to follow the title.

Does anyone know why this happens?

    Mark

Have you tried disabling all of your plugins and switching to the Twenty Ten theme? Once you do that, try this again to see if maybe your theme or one of your plugins is causing this issue. This is not normal WordPress behavior.

I was using the Headway theme before but I'm no longer using it. It's a bit flakey if what you say is true. Thanks for the reply Curtiss.
