My site (http://theestesbunch.com) has tons of posts, etc. in it’s database (theeest5_wpgrid). I’ve got the name of the database, the correct username and password in the wp-config file. But it won’t call up my posts. Help!

  • And when did this start? What changed on the site?

It started today – I added a line to wp-config to get my next gen gallery to stop messing up – then I got an error message and the site wouldn’t load – so I just reuploaded my old wp-config file – and it didn’t like my database anymore.

I can go into myphpadmin and see my posts, etc. The database name is correct (so are the username and password…but it’s acting like it’s a whole new install with just the hello world post. ???

That sounds to me as you you re-installed WordPress using a new database rather than editing the wp-config.php file and pointing it at your old database.

That’s exactly what it’s acting like – but when I check the wp-config.php file, all the information points to my old database. I don’t know what else to do if the info in wp-config is correct.

Now I’m getting an error establishing database connection message. Sigh. I’m going to create a new user and password on the db and try that.

Same issue – I’ve got the right db name but it’s acting as if that db is empty (even thought it’s not.

Check the table prefix in wp-config.php and in your database.

BINGO!!! That was it! Thank you so much! I just didn’t scroll down far enough to see it! I really appreciate your help!
