• This is a new blog site without any content at the moment. Our service provider allowed us to install 2.2.3, but we later decided to upgrade to 2.8.5 but wordpress will not load now.
Our blog should load from this link: http://www.responsiblenvironments.com/wordpress
But it stays at our generic index.html static page.
When we used 2.2.3 there were no problems with the file configurations.
Is there a step I missed in the upgrade process?
I have tired changing our initial links to redirect to index.php but nothing helps.

  • Upgrading from 2.2.3 requires an incremental upgrade so that the database gets properly upgraded. You shouldn’t even think about running anything less then 2.8.5, so if you are doing a new install, I’d delete everything and start from scratch with 2.8.5. See Installing WordPress « WordPress Codex.

Did you run a phased upgrade? Upgrading from 2.2.3 to 2.8.5 really requires a number of smaller upgrades rather than a single one.

I’m working to upgrade from 2.3.2 and started with 2.5. After I uploaded the 2.5 stuff I went to login in and had to run a short upgrade program. I followed the same proceedure to go to 2.6 but didnt’ get the short upgrade program. It now says I’m at 2.5 but have 2.6 installed. I noticed everything on the server shows the current mod date except the ad-content file, although 2.6 version has been uploaded.
How do I get the 2.6 to take so I can continue up the releases?
