[resolved] WordPress Backup to Dropbox settings for a self-hosted WordPress Network? (7 posts)

    Hi,

I just set up a self-hosted WordPress network, with the core files running in their own subdirectory, and the individual blogs running in subdirectories. I currently have the main/top-level blog/network-home and one other blog.

I just installed the WordPress Backup to Dropbox plugin and noticed that each blog has its own settings for WPB2D. There do not seem to be an actual subdirectory corresponding to the one sub-blog, though.

My question is what should I set WPB2D to back up in each blog's dashboard? The two blogs share the same core files (same database, etc, too, I think), and there don't seem to be any actual directories and files corresponding to the actual blogs' pages...

Should it be sufficient to just set one of the dashboards (say, the main one--not the network one, as that doesn't have a WPB2D tab) for backup and not exclude anything?

    Thanks!

Do you not want to back up everything in both to save space?

Are you having trouble backing up both sites or are you wondering if you need to?

Mostly, I'm wondering if I have to. Since it's a network, both blogs share the same core files, right, and I think they are in the same database. That, plus the lack of an actual directory corresponding to the second blog suggests to me that they may be using mostly the same files--maybe except for their respective index.php files...anyway, if I set them both to backup entirely...maybe 1) I'd be wasting space, and 2) I'd be creating a synchronization problem if I set them to backing up at different weekly times and later have to restore both (as in, what order would I have to restore them in--chronologically, I imagine.).

...or messing the working blog via database problems if I have problems with just one and restore that one.

The current version does not officially support a network setup. However, if you install it on one of the sites it will backup the entire network.

I am working on better network support as we speak.

WordPress multi site is now supported in version 1.4.5. The plugin settings will be found in the network admin section.

    Cheers,
    Mikey
