   Some WordPress plugins allow blog backup to Amazon S3, however, those plugins need the Amazon S3 key, etc. and store it within the WordPress installation. Is it wise to let a WordPress plugin save such sensitive access information on a web server?

   It truly depends on the sensitivity of the data in your S3 account. I would probably suggest setting up a new account for the website (so there is no risk of touching other data).
