WordPress Automatic Upgrade Not Working

    Have v2.05 installed and working on a linux server with php 4.4.8

    Am new to php etc and nervous about manually upgrading.

    So I have installed WordPress Automatic Upgrade Plugin which unfortunately runs but won’t work…

    Running the upgrader returns the answer Can’t upgrade and the following
    error page

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function: add_filter() in /home/booksfor/public_html/wordpress/wp-includes/default-filters.php on line 4.

    Deactivating the plugin & restoring the backup gets me back to where I started – ie 2.05 and running

    Any clues?
