• My client has an ecommerce site that is basically just a site created with Zen Cart. I want more flexibility in creating content and would like to create a WordPress site as the front end… where I could add content, product news, etc. I was thinking that I would create links as static elements that would link to specific products categories in the cart and maybe have a tab (or some sort of navigation) that would link to the index page of the shopping cart for those who want to jump there directly.

Is that possible? (I know that might sound like a stupid question, but I’m completely new to WP and I’m a little confused about how it works.) Would it be possible to have a search feature on my WP pages that would include the Zen Cart items in the search?

I found a template that has placeholders for 4 “ads” and I was thinking those would work really well for the direct product links (with images, of course).

Thanks for any advice you may have… or for pointing me to resources that would help me figure this out.

    C

  • Sounds interesting. I would have loved to do that. I ran separate zen-cart and WP installs. Eventually for the sake of simplicity I went to just WP, and killed my zen-cart, manually moving everything to WP with wp-ecommerce plugin. That was a separate WP install from my main one, in a subdomain. Finally, just last week, I used the eshop plugin (which I love) and manually moved all my stuff to my main WP site. I’m personally happiest with this configuration.

If you aren’t interested in doing that, I see some stuff here on google about people trying to integrate zen-cart, maybe something here can help you
