WordPress as an extranet, file management (3 posts)

    Hi,

I'm a new WP user and got some questions before jumping into the bandwagon. I've been using PHP for 5 years and developed my own CMS. A new projet imposes me WP as the default CMS so I need some tips from you guys.

It's kind of an extranet : there'll be 3 groups of users. Anyone (the public), private and admins. I need to sort files (.doc, videos, pdfs, etc) and make them accessible to the users of the group "private". Occasionnaly, infos/blog post and sometimes even files will be published for everyone to see (the group "anyone").

I'm thinking about making 2 pages : one with the public posts, one with the private files. Is there a better way to manage this then adding the files to the "file page" via private posts?

Also, I'm curious : the files I put in private posts can be accessed via URL copy-paste. Is there a way to restrict this?

Thanks for you inputs, looking foward to discovering WP!

I'll just point out a plugin that may be helpful (there are other role manager plugins besides this)

but it can help you get more detailed with who can see what, etc

Thanks for the link, I'll check into it.

If not, would the orginal WP install be able to work the thing I want?
