WordPress and cPanel – Not publishing

Hi All, am very new to all this so I will give as much information as I can. I have recently been asked to update our local football club website. The only program I am familiar with is WordPress. The fella gave me login details for cPanel so within it I installed WordPress – just under the public_html folder. I created an SQL database and changed the details within the config.php file. Again being new to this I dont even know if what I have done is right as I have no knowledge of the ins and outs of it all. I am able to log into WordPress but this is where the problem arises. If I create a new post or new page, etc and click to view the changes it does bring me to the club website but obviously no changes are implemented. Obviously there is something that isnt set up correctly. I would really appreciated some help with this as I have had the details now for almost a week and have made no progress, despite hours of trawling the internet for help. Thanks in advance!
