So my question to you fine folks is, what is going on with the logins respectfully to WordPress and affiliates?

Well, there are two types of WordPress, which you noted early on.

WordPress.com is a blogging network, so one WordPress.com account will allow you to comment on all WordPress.com blogs which require logging in to comment.

WordPress.org blogs are all self-installed, self-hosted, and self-contained, so you would need to register an account for each WordPress.org blog which required logging in to comment.

So, nothing is really “going on” necessarily, it’s just that one particular version of WordPress is entirely self-contained, and the other is largely open.

With all the plugins used for allowing the general public to login using Facebook, LinkedIn, Google, and the like with their respective account credentials. Are my visitors going to experience the same issues with my site?

Sort of, but probably with a better user experience. Each social login plugin still establishes a new account for the user on the blog in question, but then ties it to an existing social login. So, they will still be creating a new account, but the experience will be a bit more streamlined as they are using an existing account from elsewhere to do so.

    Thanks, MacManX
I wish to make available any (safe) tool that would enhance the user’s experience and interaction with my website. I have decided to move forward with a “Social Login Plugin” allowing users to access http://www.sqdcme.com and I will have friends and family attempt to login and create accounts within before going live with the site, I will monitor and measure the degree of difficulty from each and provide some feedback respectively.

I visited your Blog, liked the tribute to Robin Williams, I am a fan as well, started with Mork&Mindy and have followed him throughout his career.

Excellent, I like the idea of social logins personally, it’s easier for users in the long run. 🙂

I’m glad you’re a fan of Robin Williams too, he will be missed.
